Position: Director of Infection Prevention and Control with 6 Infection Preventionist's, Project Coordinator IP, and an engaged CIC certified ID physician .75 FTE.  This position is over the Infection Prevention & Control practices at Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas City, Children’s Mercy Hospital Kansas and hospitals and all ambulatory clinics in both Missouri and Kansas.  Children’s Mercy Hospital is a 367 bed comprehensive pediatric medical center that integrates clinical care, research and medical education to provide care for patients ages birth to 21.  The hospital’s primary service area covers a 150 county area in Missouri and Kansas.  Children’s Mercy has received national recognition from U.S. News & World Report in ten pediatric specialties.  The hospital was the first in Missouri and Kansas to receive Magnet Recognition for excellence in nursing services from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and has been re-designated 4 times. 

Job Responsibilities:

Leads the development, implementation and analysis of the organization's infection control program.  Key program elements include infection surveillance, prevention and control activities, surveillance data analysis, guiding prevention and follow-up activities, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, providing infection prevention education for hospital personnel and providing expert infection prevention guidance during infection surge events.

Job Requirements:

·         Bachelors Degree with a minimum 5 years direct experience in Infection Prevention & Control

·         Masters degree (or within 3 years of hire)

·         Licensure in Missouri and Kansas must be maintained for all current professional licenses

·         Certified Infection Prevention and Control required
